Update from Ron
by Ron Pereira on November 11th, 2007Well my Buckeyes finally met their match yesterday. Kudos to Illinois for out playing us in all facets of the game. We still have a chance to win the Big 10 championship this coming weekend if we can beat that pesky team from up north. I will be in Ann Arbor for the showdown cheering the good guys in scarlet on! I will have pictures galore to share after the game.
I must apologize for my lack of blogging as of late. I have recently been promoted to director of manufacturing within my company. This is without a doubt the most challenging (and rewarding) position I have ever held. I have had to travel quite a bit more and this has definitely impacted my “free” time in the evenings, etc. The good news is I am now working with multiple sites on lean, lean, and more lean (with some six sigma sprinkled in when needed).

Great news. Keep up the good work.
congratulations — knock their socks off — actually, help others to succeed and knock everyone’s socks off.
Thanks guys.
Congrats! It is great to hear the 6 Sigma guru inacting the Lean Sensei at multiple sites. I’m doing the same but not from a Director of Manufacturing position as I have done in the past. Keep up the good work and my Sooners appreciate the loss by OSU although we could easily blow it before or during the Big 12 Championship. There must be something in the water for 3 Big 12 teams to be in the top 5. Still looking for the cup of coffee in the near future to network.
It appears you continue to prove that keeping the main thing the main thing is paying off.
Ron - well done on the promotion! I’d be really interested in hearing how the additional pressures you now face impact on the ability to implement the Lean and Six Sigma philosophy? Also any efforts you make in culture change and instituting Lean Thinking. Remember, manage as if you have no power ….
Thanks Rob. My style, for lack of a better word, has not changed.
While my title has changed my philosophies are the same as they have been for years… be nice to people, listen to them, and work hard.
Also, I have always tried to manage by doing instead of talking.
Perhaps I will elaborate more on this in a future post. Cheers Rob.
Greetings from a fellow Buckeye fan!
